If you havent got a spare piece of ground or garden, a reasonable sized container will do. A stryofoam fruit box, a wooden box, or even a plastic planter.Any type of sturdy box that wont break if you put water and dirt in it. If your container is solid you will need some sort of drainage. You can do this by punching small holes in the bottom (you might have to ask an adult to do that for you) or by putting a lot of small pebbles or stones in the bottom.

Now it is up to you, seeds or plants. You can get both from a garden centre or large store that has a gardening section. Some home hardware stores have garden sections as well.
If you want to plant seeds, you can buy packets for around a dollar in most places. Or you can buy punnets of seedlings. (these are seeds that have been started for you and often the easiest to grow). We will show you both ways.
